Hi,
Have you checked Kay's signal estimation book. Amplitude estimation is not really a very popular subject whereas frequency and phase is.

Amplitude Estimation is covered in Steven Kay's book titled "Fundamentals of Statistical Signal Processing: Estimation Theory (Vol. 1). I believe this is the book brmadhukar is referring to.

Can you guys tell me if whitening is most of the times used with AR models?
 

you can whiten MA (moving average) systems as well.
