at first,i use XST of ISE
then , i find it is inefficient, and i use synplify later
i feel synplify is so strong that it can do better than XST
what tools are you using?

design compiler for ASIC
synplify for FPGA

Presision RTL for FPGA

CAdence ENcounter for ASIC
and AMBIT

I am using both ISE & Synplify. No doubt Synplify is better at Synthesis but A good care of options are to be taken care of while implementing the edif generated from Synplicity else if the design is bigger one or complex one it can fail in first time.

XST for FPGA's.
Design Compiler for ASIC's.
I would agree that Synplify is better than XST though. It produces better results and has quicker synthesis runs.

PALACE tool for physical synthesis is good

The best one, Quartus II.

ye ,for asic ,Synopsys's DC is perfect, but is hard to beginner, always using DA
at first.
Synplify is good for fpga's synthesis, the quartus2 is the substitute of MaxPlus2
is a good fpga router tool.

As for me ,also dc for asic design
synplify pro and xst for fpga!

I think the best tools are synplify Pro .I heard the Sonopsys Co.Ltd had recently relieved its new tools for FPGA designs, named DC FPGA. It makes user utilize same design flow over ASIC or FPGA design .
if u want to work on ASIC ,u can try this tool.

fpga/epld: synplify pro
asic: dc or magma( below 0.18 )

I’ve been using Quatus II and DSP Builder. I’m ready to buy Synplify Pro and Synplify DSP.

symplify from symplicity

Amplify - really good for modular designs and floorplanning

if i am not mistaken,,, i read a doc in altera website which stated tht they recommend user to use third party synthesis tools....

regards,

Hello,

For FPGA, CPLD designs...use synplicity's Synplify Pro Logic synthesis tool
which is very powerful & easy to use tool...

If you have performace creteria like meeting your critical paths & design frequency then use Amplify tool to do Physical Synthesis...to get better performance results @ the cost of area

What is DSP Builder?
Who service it?

DSP Builder is Altera's tool that links Quartus and MATLAB. You can create HDL from MATLAB signal processing code.
