Which standard to choose: USB1.1 or USB2.0 ?

USB1.1 and USB2.0

Hi,
I have to make decision on one of these. 2.0 seems to offer lot more than 1.1. I am familiar with 1.1 but this seems to be giving lot of problem. Has anyone here achieved a rate greater than 8MBps using 1.1 . If so can you send me the configuration, like mode and device and anyother thing useful.
