eda red hat

Every boby which redhat is good?
7.2 or 7.3 or 9.0

7.3,2.4kernel,but low version glibc

Synopsys officially use Redhat advanced server or 7.2.
If you use higher version linux then you install backward compatible patches...

LDV 5.0
Debussy 5.2
DC 2003.06
were no problem on redhat 8.0

rh8.0 can support most of eda tools :p

Which is the version of glibc in rh8?
Is it same as rh7.3?

Hi,

It is not the matter of Linux version u use, but it depends upon the binaries of the EDA tools which u use. Certain tools may support upto Linux 8, certain tools may support only upto 7.3.

Generally when a Linux version is released, the eda tool design firms need to design the upgraded version of their tool for the latest release of the OS. This upradation itself takes more time. So check the manuals of the EDA tools before u install the tool

Regards,
GP

With RH7.2 every thing is more easy.
But I like Fedora Core.

I installed Redhat Advanced Server 3.0 and the latest $yopsys tools, and found DC will crash when compiling a bigger design.
So, I turned to Redhat Advanced Server 2.1, and it seems ok now.
So, you can make a choice.
:)

Hello,

This topic has been discussed many times.

The EDA company claim that they support RH7.3. However, RH7.3 is too old for most advanced hardware such as 64bits platform.
Many people use Fedora 2 now. Also you could try Fedora 3. But they need to overcome many small troubles.

Foe eda tools, Manderake 9.2 seems to be good choice!

For some new version of EDA tools, RHEL 3.0 is very well.

Hi

Notice to all members,

I suggest you to the following comment.

The compatibility and support for CAD Tools on Linuxc are mostly depends on the Kernel rather than vendor version or name
Look at this

Kernel: 2.4.X
Redhat: Redhat 7.2/7.3
Mandrake <=9.2

So, You can use mandrake 9.2 just like redhat 7.2

BTW: I have some situations that the mandrake must work like redhat 6
Look at this situation:
sandwork 2003.04 must be configure for redhat 6 compatible in mandrake <=9.2
ix386_r6
not
ix386_r7
ix386_r8

tnx

I heard that rh7.2 is better.
