I have recently developed interest in the field of computer and IT. Some one told me to start by learning C. I wish to know whether there is any internationally recognized certification that i can go for. I wish to build my career on it. This is why i would not want to take admission in any so called centres.

NP and the CCIE but if you are interested in programmimg go for short $icrosoft courses on MCSD or similar ones
