hi all

another amazing ques. about Cap.

now suppose we have a cap. C and we charged it to voltage V

so Q=C x V

after that we short it by a wire

so the Cap. is discharged and Q became zero

THE QUES.:
WHERE THE Q DONE ??

Hi,
When you short circuit the Capa a strong current ciculate through the wire which has a resistance r. All the energy in the cap is lost as a heat in the wire (jule effect ri²).
 

hi...

hope u know wat actually voltage means....
it is the deficiency of electrons on one side than another ie one side has more electrons than other....

so in case of capacitors when it is charged to 'n' voltage, one side has more charge(e) than other, and when u short it , the charge flows from high density area to low....so charge goes no where....its just get neutralized.....ie both sides have equal charges....
so when equal charges ...0 voltages and so on....

hope this aansweres ur question....
its just the concept of Potential difference....
 

ya exactly....
the potential on both ends becomes equal....so all the charges just neutralizes intself
 

here wire acts as resistor.....nd high current flow thru it while connected fully charged capacitor
 

Hi All,
You know voltage is the work done per unit charge. In moving the charges through the wire work was done (energy used). The voltage therefore reduces to zero. No charge has been lost.
