If you cannot find at the store the integrated circuits suggested above, make your life easier by obtaining discarded telephones from friends, neighbors, check what number is it; look at its application notes and data sheet, and canibalize the encoder chip or better, saw-off the portion of pc board with its peripherial components included. The keypad will be useful too.
