What's the reason for using half grid and full grid?

why we use some times Half Grid? and in some times Full grid ? why soo? can any one explai pls?

You'd better not to modify the grid. Maybe there are some offgrid if you use two grid in the same layout.

yes, in standard cells. difference in 9 tracks, 7 tracks to 12 track.

in 9,7 we will kept Full grid but in 12 track half grid . why?
