What's the purpose of sense capacitor in L297?

Hello

I have build a simple L297 L298 board, but now is time to improve it!

Some schematics have capacitor and resistor at the sense inputs of the L297, in the L297 datasheet and in the AN470 there's no mention of them, the following schematic found here : High current bipolar stepper motor controller

Can someone explain what is the purpose of these ?
Is is a simple delay T = R(ohms) x C(farads) ?
