Hi All,

I'd like to ask about the importance of the Blockage layers for layout?
I am seeing blockage layers for each routing layer.

Thanks

Blockage Layers

Hi ,
Blockage layer are used when u dont want u use a particular layer in specified area..
Advantage:
U can avoid shorts and avoid the extra parasitics..
Example: If somewhere clock is routed and u dont want it to couple with higher or lower metal then u use blockage layer ...

I think u got the basic idea....

Naveen..

Re: Blockage Layers

Thanks for your replay.

I have another question. Is there any document that tells about the blockage layer for each routing layer.

Re: Blockage Layers

hi

Can u please elaborate on the following tf file section:

DesignRule {
layer1 = "via1Blockage"
layer2 = "VIA1"
minSpacing = 0.22
}

What does it mean ? I am not able to get it ...

Regards,
Gaurav

on my own understanding, maybe on the layer map layer1 is assigned for via1Blockage layer, then layer2 is for via1 layer. the minimum spacing between two via1 is equal to 0.22
