ESD protection of PS2 ?

I am designing a embedded system with PS2 Interface.
I encounter a problem that PS2 control chip's relative pins is often breakdown when the system board is tested ESD(15KV).

Re: ESD protection of PS2 ?

15KV !!! where can you encounter such a voltage? 8KV is'nt enough?
I think the HBM limit is 4 KV. I didn't heard until now that a commercial chip to resist to more than 8KV

Hi Mario1980,

There is difference between chip level ESD & board/system level ESD.
The ESD standard says that for chip 2kV is must. But if you see the chips normally have 4kV protection But when the same chip is integrated on the Board or on a system them the ESD protection behavior can go much beyond 15kV.
