USB 2.0 is newer version of USB1.1...
it supports up to 480 Mbit/S in respect to 12 Mbit/S in USB 1.1 with backward compatibilty with USB 1.1.

new motherboards from all of manufacturers(like asus) support usb2.
The north bridge chipset (ICH4) from intel support up to six USB 2.0 ports.

for checking your motherboard refer to it's user's manual or the manufacturer web site.

BEST!

usb 2 & 1.1

main diff. betn usb 1.1 & usb 2.0 is high speed mode running at 480mbps.
there are few more additions to the protocol, available at usb.org
all usb 2.0 designs will be fully backward compatible to usb 1.1 designs.
