What will happen to the signal if I travel between states ?

Can anyone help me out in this topic. What and When the Signalling will be done, while i am travelling interstate..Eg from Hutch-AP to M.P (Airtel)..if we presume that entire highway is seamless.

may be when the soft-handover was failed or loss the syunch. during the hard-handover
other think , when the operter not have coverge

also there is many many case , like have problem in the transever power control this also may have effect
also may be the traffic on the trancever turn to be v.heavy then mode change to be half rate tech. and have problem
