hi,

If i connect the NMOS with VDD and PMOS with VSS in the inverter what will happen?

Prithivi.

Re: inverter

It will work as a weak buffer, the output now will not be vdd to vss but vdd-vth to vth.

Re: inverter

A NMOS cannot charge the load completely to VDD and PMOS cannot discharge the load the VSS.
i.e.., NMOS charge the load to VDD -Vtn and
PMOS will discharge upto Vtp to the ground

a week buffer isnt an inverter

so as i said it will do nothing

you would have to invert the drive signal also to again make it act as an inverter

Re: inverter

True, this is a bad idea of buffering a signal, but it is wrong to say that pmos will do nothing, It ofcourse will discharge the load upto vth. And it is again a bad idea of making this circuit an inverter.

inverter

it is not recommended ! nmos shud be connected to VSS.. and PMOS to VDD
