ic programmer

I am new in micrcontroller....i am going to purchase a IC programmer.....please guide me what i should check in a that before buy. I saw one in EFY edition. Person says he will give me one in 9500 which will support almost all microcontroller.......

Please guide me....

Well, you need to know what you want to program. If you are looking for a programmer that supports most of the ICs in the industry, it may cost little expensive. You may want to check www.Xeltek.com. I believe Xeltek has currently the industry's largest supported device programmer with supporting over 50000 devices.

It all depends on which chips you are going to program. The universal programmer you are refering, can program many chips from different companies but with Optional adaptors and converters which are sold separately. Instead PIC or AVR or ATmel89 series programmers are available for the fraction of the cost you have mentioned. Goodluck

Most probably you are going to use only one brand, either pic or avr or 89s. So first you decide which micro you are going to use and buy a programmer for that.
