Hello,
In my design, one specific IC works at 5Vdc only and communicates over I2C serial communicaiton to uC. So far i am planning to use 3V3 supply for my board and using level translator circuit at IC working at 5V supply. This approach requires to use two regulators. What will be the disadvantages and advtages if I change to 5V supply to my board from 3.3V so that i can have only one power supply for the entire board. Please help me on this.

Thanking You,

your board will cost more and occupy more space that's all
so for the industry, it's better to find a suitable ic that works at 3.3v
in fact for hobby there is no problem, as double power supply are really affordable ...
