It is a well known phenomena in RF. Can anyone explain why it happens?
when electrons flow in the conductor and create the magnetic field. what the magnetic field do to the electrons? Also in the case of couple line, there is also megnetic fields from the adjacent line. they should have the phenomena that is similar the the skin dept but for the width of the transmission line. Any information on this topic, thank you

Re: Skin Depth

This is caused by the electric and magnetic field outside the conductor. There is a wave tilt and some of the energy goes into the conductor.

This whole area of conceptualizing the low frequency concepts of voltage and current on wires and the high frequency concept of traveling energy in fields has not yet been fully understood.

Re: Skin Depth

Hi,
How does skin depth manifest in modern PCBs. The tracks are not circular in cross section.

Re: Skin Depth

Skin depth changes in inverse proportion to the square root of operating frequency irrespective of the cross-section shape of the conductor.
