CRC-REASON

in my floppy drive sometimes i get a warning of cyclic redundancy check error - copying failed. what does that mean and the reason of the same.

Re: CRC-REASON

a CRC- or Cyclic Redundancy Check- is used to ckeck if there is any errors in the files stored on your floppy.

so, basically the computer when copying the files to your floppy is generates its CRC value that corresponds only to your file. and when the floppy gets damaged due to any reasons the computer when reading your file founds that the file and its CRC doesnt match which means that the file is damaged.

of course there are some programs that can copy the file anyway to your computer but be aware that the file may have some errors -if it is a document file- or not even work at all -if it's an executable file-.
