What is the output of the Mapper before the IFFT block?

I will like to understand the inputs and outputs in the mapper block of an OFDM system to better understand the nature of the inputs at the ifft block. can anyone help me?[/b]
 

i think you mean the output from the modulator block,

here you will get (from the output of the modulator) a symbols of bits to be input to the IFFT block.

I also dont quite get the use of pilot symbols in the design of an OFDM system in simulink. Where should the pilot symbols be inserted? When are the pilot symbols 1 and when are they -1?
