multiplicative noise

is there a multiplicative noise. why we always take only gaussian additive noise for consideration but not any other noise. what are the characteristics of multiplicative noise if any?

Re: multiplicative noise

gaussian noise and uniform noise are usually used for modelling especiallyin communication systems because of their simplicity .Also they follow closely the practical values..

multiplicative noise is used hardly in communication .but in some digital signal processing applications this is considered..separation is done using homomorhphic filtering ..a technique which uses logarithm to convert the multiplication to addition..
