RC Gonzalez & RE Woods, Digital Image Processing, Addison-Welsey (1993).

2004 release for this book is also available,

There are some other interesting books,
Digital Image Processing - Springer Verlag, Bernd Jahne.

should be also good.

dude,

to learn basics of compression, go for Multimedia Communication byLI and DREW.
there u have basics of AUDIo, IMAGE & VIDEO Compression .........good for starters!!!

check the CVIPtools website their book is excellent!

RC Gonzalez & RE Woods, Digital Image Processing Using Matlab is a good book, having theory of DIP and matlab example codes. Anyway, I'm still looking for this book. If anyone has the softcopy of this book, please upload.
