What is the most common method for licensing in Linux box ?

I know that EDA company use hostid to create license for Sun Solaris, HPUX and IBM AIX machine. Can anyone give me the most common method for licensing In RH Linux box: Dongle or MAC id?
I need the info for:

Astro
Synopsys DC, Primetime
Mentor IC flow
Hspice
IC5

as i know, most eda vender us
mac: hp ux
mac: linux rh
hostid: solaris sun

mac & hostid can be changed by software emulator or directly changed

yes, and most ethernet card which used realtech's chip can easily be re-programed. the others, you have to take out the E2PROM to re-program it and mount it on the card.

remember, you can not have the same mac address's machine on the same network.

You can't have it on the same ethernet network (even switched), but
simple router (which controls the network traffic at 3rd layer of the ISO/OSI model, usually the IP layer) could solve the problem.
