gsm maximum speed km/h

What is the maximum speed the mobile user can move?

it depends on the carrier freq., the frame length and ...
I will send more exact information in the next days

It's specially depends on cell size.
In highways we need large cells to reduce handovers

Hi anwer_sbh,
Its true that, its depends on the carrier Freq & frame lenngth.
The Netowrk provider will design the SW keeping these constraints in mind. So Its depends on the Network implementation.
I can tell you for Nokia. It was 220KMPH.

For this, you need to consider 5 things:

1. Doppler Effect
2. Multipath (in narrow enclosed environment with high reflective structures or undulated surfaces)
3. Atmospheric absorption
4. Micro/Macrocell size
5. MSC and B-Node Switching response

If you know all the above, you can determine the latency.

Once you know the latency, you can then address your moving speed.

Moving speed within a cell is almost instantaneous.

Moving speed from cell to cell, or service space of a telco operator to a different service space of another telco operator is subjective.

I am working in the same area.
The maximum speed is 250Kmph for GSM.
Be confirmed.

Added after 1 minutes:

you can see it in "Wireless Comm." by Rappaport.

Hello
I am afraid if it can be specified in direct terms for any system. I think it depends on factors like cell size, carrier frequency, atmospheric conditions, region of operation if prone to multipath fading, quality of switching equipments at BS and MSC etc.
I feel can not be generalised.

Hi,

the max speed was included in requirement on 3G spect. There was requirement that UTRA_FDD be operational on fast trains, like TGV in France. I don't remeber exact figures, but have guess that it is over 360 km/h

It has been reported that UTRA-TDD can operate up to 120 km/h.
