What is hot electron effect, and how LDD(lightly doped drains) reduce this effect

Hot electron effect

you can just join the descussion. i think that's a topic you are looking for

Re: Hot electron effect

Hi:
Not sure if you have found out what you need from the discussion. But hot electron effect happens when the electrons get accelerated toward the drain, causing impact ionization, and then some of these electrons get into gate oxide. The lightly doped drain can reduce the electrical field close to the drain and therefore reduce the number of impact ionizations and hence reduce the hot electron effect.
