What is the diference between GGMOS and GCMOS? Why is GGMOS using as input PAD ESD protection and GCMOS using as clamp circuit between the power rail and vss?
reguards!

question about ESD

GGMOS is MOS with its gate directly connected to ground. GCMOS is one with its gate connected to ground thru a big resistor. GCMOS will act faster than GGMOS during ESD event because of Cgd capacitor.

question about ESD

Why are we offen prefering GGMOS for use as input PAD ESD protection NOT GCMOS?

question about ESD

As GCMOS has gate connected to ground through a large resistance. this large resistance with mos capacitors forms Rc time constants.thus GCMOS reacts slow for ESD as compared to GGMOS.

I don't think so. the operation principles are different.
