next after 8051

I am an embedded beginner.i thoroughed 8051 fully.what is the thing i should learn at next in embedded systems?

Please give me the guidance........

Next thing What u can do is to implement your efforts on the board.

Once u r done with that......

choose your area of specialization like

1. DSP
2. Device Drivers prog....
3. ARM based boards....
4. Linux and so-on
and keep on moving.....
