what is physical compiler

at which stage phisical compiler used in vlsi design flow.
what are the inputs and outputs of it ?
how it differ from astro ?
what fuctions it can performs?
 

go through any ASIC design flow documents which are available on net.
you wll know all in detail

I think u are mostly concentrating on sysnopsys flw, so go through
Advanced asic chip synthesis by Himanshu bhatnagar
 

Dear Sir,

we use DC to do synthesis, physical compiler to optimize timing from dc netlist. Astro to do cts and routing.This recommend flow from synopsys.
