Hi,

How and in what way we can define and express the legend embeded system??

Can any body forward good websites and articles for embeded systems understanding?????????

such that it will be great help in making to go through the embeded concepts,as i was very much interest in learning!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Please xplain in one good example, containing the definition, process and design of particular product???????indirectly complete embeded design flow>>>>>>>>>

regards,
sreedhar.

Well -

if you have an DSL router at home - then you are there. It's an embedded system.

An embedded system is nothing but it posses following features:
1Single-functioned :Executes a single program, repeatedly
2Tightly-constrained :Low cost, low power, small, fast, etc.
3 Reactive and real-time:Continually reacts to changes in the system’s environment
Must compute certain results in real-time without delay

You can say any computing system other than a desktop computer is an embedded system
examples
Modems
MPEG decoders
Network cards
Network switches/routers
On-board navigation
Pagers
Photocopiers
Point-of-sale systems
Portable video games
Printers
Satellite phones
Scanners
Smart ovens/dishwashers
Speech recognizers
Stereo systems
Teleconferencing systems
Televisions
Temperature controllers
Theft tracking systems
TV set-top boxes
VCR’s, DVD players
Video game consoles
Video phones

for more details as u said ...visit once to 8052.com for embedded system and its programs...........

I'm a bit lost aswell, these micro controllers and FPGAs can do the same operations as you mentioned, e.g.

On-board navigation
Pagers
Photocopiers
Point-of-sale systems
Portable video games
Printers
Satellite phones
Scanners

However, why are the micro-controllers and FPGAs are in a different section as this embeded systems, what are the differences?

I think you can better information from google. Why didn't you tried it by googling. It 'll give so many useful information that is not possible to give here in detail.

ya embedded system is the collection of hardware and software.
for example just giving life to the non living things
just programing an machine or inventing anew product
for particular task
did u cleared ya

How can we use it in a car?

Using in a car huh..
Well, you can use a Freescale automobile controller, that controls fuel injection, at various speeds of the vehicle.
The A/C control is itself an embedded system, as it's got temperature sensors feeding back the controller and keeping the car cosy (warm in winter n cool in summer)..

Now a days we have GPS in our cars a very nice example of embedded systems.. well a bit high end though..

The car lock, speedometers, etc.. all most all the important accessories in cars are controlled by speific microcontrollers or processors.. So there are lots of ways knowingly or unknowingly you are using Embedded system in your fully-furnished car.

Thanks.
Regards.

embeeding the software into the hardware...
EMBEDDED SYSTEM:
it is a system used for specific application.

Hello ,

there is no one single definition for the embedded systems reflects all types of those systems...

in general..embeded systems are types of computer systems which are are more limited in hardware and/or software functionality than the PC.It is is designed to perform a dedicated function and It has a higher quality and reliability requirements than other types of computer systems.

and the guys gave you many examples of such systems, but it is obvious that you find embeded systems everywhere

In my opinion a SBC (single Board computer) is said to be an Embedded system, because it will be perform only specific or that function for which it is design for. For example a moving message display system only perform the moving message but cannot do a modem function (ofcourse it is only design to do Moving a message). Where as a PC can do many function, you need not to change its entire hardware only software changes required. So an Embedded System is said to be a specific function provider (it is design for). For any other fuction one has to change not only its software but hardware as well.
