The absolute encoder outputs an unique angle code ; It is more expensive for the angular resolution
The relative encoder outputs differential angle pulses ;the attached intelligence must calculate the angle from a datum point. ; It is cheaper for the same angular resolution
Hi klystron
Thank you for your reply. But which one gives good accuracy?
Also, as Incremetal encoder, differntial output pulses, it is easy to find the direction of rotation. But How its giving the angle information at instance? Because, the two secondary outputs are phase shifted by 90 degrees always. But how it provides current angle information?
You will get better accuracy for money with the incremental encoder. You must define a datum (zero degrees) point for the incremental encoder and then by counting pulses keep track of the angle. (Normally interupt driven) For example zeroo degrees plus 20 pulse at .1 degree each will give you an angle of 2 degrees
