What is a pitch-limited layout?

U cannot layout ur design beyond the given pitch for which u have to follow certain constraints.
It comes in standard cell layout methodology.

This comes in normally standard cells and I/O cells.
Generally incase of standard cells "picth" means height of the cell and incase of I/O cells this means width of the cell.
Ex:pitch will be same for all the standard cells belongs to the same library.

there r two types of pitches.
1.manufacturing pitch
2.layout pitch.
manufacturing pitch is the one tells u the resolution of the lithograghic chock.
layout pitch is grid what we maintain .
via 2 via pitch
via 2 metal pitch
line 2 line pitch
