SE or Apollo

Hi everyone,

what files do need when I run the SE?
what role in the SE layout the fiels play?
how to write a skill file to run it ?

Pls help me or give me some advice!
Tia

Re: SE or Apollo

The basic inputs are technology file, cell library, design, constraint.
The library vendor often iprovides different file formats for different tools.

I once used Apollo from Avanti. I think SE should have the similar inputs with Apollo, for both are Place & Routing tool.

Your question is very basic and can be found on Cadence or Synopsys document

SE or Apollo

no skill needed, just look for some salple .mac (macro) files in se docs.

Hi visualart:

Do you have tutorial for SE or Appoll?

I think these are best solutions for your question.

what good the tutorial files for without the tool to practice

Re: SE or Apollo

To me, the essential of SE is to write a good constraint GCF file.
Almost the rest parts could sustained from foundry, but GCF is definite constraint to your design.

BTW, how could we write a perfect GCF constraint file?

SE or Apollo

The Layout Tools based on None-Timing-Driven layout flow is very convenient and easy to grap, suggest you to read the documents from the tools.

SE or Apollo

I now find the constraint file format is not same for SE and Astro.
SE is using GCF which was created by cadence few years ago.
Astro may use SDC for its own constraint format.
sigh~! I begin to feel that i could not keep the pace of the developing of EDA tools!

So , system understanding and design methodolody is the key point for me.

Re: SE or Apollo

share my exp. on apollo's sdf file..
.. its sdf file is not so good ... after we tape out chip .. and re check it with primetime again ...

it seem they use diff of method to caculate delay .. primetime is more good..

SE or Apollo

very similar to apollo,
do you have tutorial pdf?

SE or Apollo

Why not select the astro?
