Folks

In Expedition I see one option in Display control called 'Dynamic Area Fill'. Is it related to Plane processing? Because when I check in Display control, it process the plane and enables the Plane data. Could please breif the deifference between 'Plane data' and Dynamic 'Area fill'?

Any help would be highly appreciated

Re: Dynamic Area fill

Dynamic Area Fills (Display Control - Layer Tab)

This command enables the display of area fill data inside user-defined plane shapes placed on trace layers. The Dynamic Area Fill command is only active when no Planes Processor generated plane data is present on any layer of the board. You can use the Delete Plane Data command to remove all previously generated plane data.

Dynamic area fills are only generated for positive layers which have routing enabled in Editor Control. Dynamic area fills are not generated for negative and positive layers which do not have routing enabled in Editor Control.
Dynamic Area Fill can be used as a tool to help visualize what positive plane data will look like once it is generated. It is not physical data and therefore the command must be activated each time you enter the design. When Dynamic Area Fills is enabled, a status bar appears at the bottom of the PCB window and any positive plane net that is checked to be processed within the Planes Processor dialog and that exists on a routing layer enabled in the Editor Control dialog is filled.

Options for area fill hatching are defined within Draw mode using the Properties dialog.
Note: If Dynamic Area fill is turned on and you modify a plane shape in Draw mode, the Dynamic Area Fill data will still display using the original shape and will only regenerate when you have exited Draw mode.
Alternatively, you can also define these options in the Planes Processor menu on a per net, per layer basis. From within the Planes Processor menu, define the Plane data options and hit the Cancel button. The following question box will appear.

There have been changes made to the Plane Processor Setup.
Do you want to save these changes. Yes / No

By selecting Yes, the Planes parameters will be saved and Dynamic Area Fills will update with the new hatch settings.
While Dynamic Area Fill is enabled, you can move components, vias and traces, or place new objects within the area fill and the fill and clearance data will be dynamically updated.
In order to Gerber out plane layers, you must run Route - Planes - Processor from the pulldown menu, in order to generate real plane data on the board before Gerber is created.
