Hello, take a look here plz:

https://futurlec.com/GPS.shtml

what do you think about this module? how good you think it is?

is it possible to interface it with USB to the PC, and see your position on the screen?

or use existing GPS software for free?

thanks

Hi BlackOps

your module is ok. Good sensivity, low voltage and tiny, but too much connector and needs an external antenna.
Also you need a line transceiver (max232 or similar) to connect to pc, because it has TTL levels.

By the price, I preffer this from sparkfun

https://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=465

very simple, positive TTL logic, built in antenna, really high sensivity (-159 dBm), but needs 5 volt to operate. And a line transceiver too if you want to connect to pc.

Finally you will need for usb port

GPS module+line transceiver chip (for rs232 levels)+usb2serial adapter+ pc running a GPS software.

or

GPS module+ USB chip converter (cp2102 from silicon labs)+pc running a GPS software.

good luck.
