What are the rules for routing LVDS signals on a PCB?

Hi,

What are the rules to be followed while routing LVDS signals on a PCB. Is there any constraint on the length for the LVDS signal wires ? Thanks

keep as short as posible. use differential pair model to calculate the distance between the signal pair based on the desired impendace (100 ohm as common for LVDS) and stack height.

there are the follwong general guidelines while routing lvds signals

1) keep distance between diffrentails pair constant
2) match length of lvds pairs
3)maintain constant trace width for lvds pairs

you should use equal length and close coupled differential transmission line

with desired differential impedance 100R, The trace should avoid

vias and width variation to prevent reflection. It's better

to route trace on same routing layer from trace begin to trace end.
