As far as Mealy and moore are concerned one depends on the present as well as the past inputs where as the other depends only on the past inputs...
r u sure ??:|

Haneet is right. Salma has also explained it more clearly.
As the present state is a function of past inputs and the past state, we can either say that the outputs in moore machine depends only on the present state or in other words, it depends on the past inputs (+ past state).
In case of mealy machine the output depends on the present as well as the past inputs. Past inputs (include past state also) describe the present state.

IS NOT IT SHIV???

Cheers:))

state machines

hey i ws little confused with past inputs n state ..
hope they differ .........
I ws luking for MORE accurate terminalogy yarr .....
anyways .... if u think past INPUTS n previous STATE give same idea ..........thn I think u shud reconsider ..
wht say ....

im sure and the explanation to it has been given by xstal.
U can refer the book on digital design by Charles roth.

Re: state machines

Hi Shiv,
Well I think that present state is a function of past inputs and past state(in mealy)...
and past state(in moore)
If you disagree then please let us know in little more details about it..

Thanks,

Re: state machines

hi shiv
to design an alu,VHDL,verilog could be one choice.if u have any doubts further mail back.

state machines

FSM is used in random logic
while structure logic such as alu, custom mybe good

state machines

for FSM you can refere HDL Chip design by Douglas J Smith.

yes i agree with u !!
when v write ...state table ..
v take present inputs n present state.....depending on these two values .. next state is calculated..in orther words .... present state is functiion of past inputs n past state !!
thanq xstal !!
