nmos pass transistor lecture notes

what r pass transistors.can they be constructed with MOSFETS

pass transistors

hi. r u talking about the pass transistors switches? if so, yes. they can be constructed by using pmos and nmos in parallel.

Re: pass transistors

The lecture notes here will probably explain on pass transistors.

Re: pass transistors

Using pass transistor is one of the way to reduce the complexity of the circuit.
It belongs to the class of static circuits.

Here your gate is the controller. Whenever your gate allows the input will be passed to the output.

for eg: In nmos when gate is high: input = output

Re: pass transistors

pass transistors are nothing but controlled switches (gate is used for control). NMOS with high gate input is ON and PMOS with low gate signal is OFF. they are used extensively (for example S/H circuits to determine when the input signal is passed on to ADC).

Re: pass transistors

I believe the formal definition of a pass transistor is
one in which the transistor is biased into its active
region in order to control the current at its output.
The voltage difference will appear as heat.
This is a common arrangement in analog power
suppies, and is often an addition to IC-based
voltage regulators to add current capability.
