Does anyone have any idea what hotspots are :?:

hotspots are caused due to imperfections in the doping of a semiconductor.... since the semiconductor is not uniformly doped the heat distribution is not uniform due to lesser mobility in some regions and more mobility in other regions... this variation causes more heat in some regions and these melt at higher currents leading to hotspots...
