Hey there,
There is a fundamental principle that I do not understand regarding wave ports. Lets consider a coaxial cable simulation. It is common to define the waveport along a PEC cap attached to both
edges of the cable. For a coaxial cable the fundamental mode is a TEM.
My question is regarding to the semi-infinite waveguide - does the PEC cap resembles a semi infinite circular waveguide? if so, a TEM mode cant propagate (which is obviously not the case in real live and also in the simulation).
Another option is that it resembles a semi - infinite waveguide with the same cross section of the coaxial cable (this option makes sense).

Actually the waveports on a coax cable are attached to the faces of the dielectric.

If you attach a PEC cap (as needed when the waveport is inside your domain), this simply tells the solver that that particular location is the "backside" of your waveport, and no power should flow in that direction.
