I also have a second need for finding if the water is flowing through a 1 inch diameter pipe. what various ways I have to achieve it ?

Re: water flow detection

Except for clamp on ultrasonic flow meters (and some kind of thermal sensors ), all available methods require to cut the pipe respectively drill a hole into it.

For the selection of suitable methods, some additional information should be given:
- minimum flow to detect
- any accuracy requirements
- is a pressure drop/aperture reduction acceptable

Measurement/sensor principles to consider:
- turbine
- float-type
- ultrasonic doppler
- positive displacement
- differential pressure
- emf (magnetic)
- thermal
- vortex
- coriolis mass flow
