Can voltage sources be connected in parallel or current sources in series,if they can be connected so ,what would be the equivalent voltage or current source. Please clarify my doubt.
Re: Voltage sources in Parallel and current sources in serie
Theoretically only two IDENTICAL voltage sources can be paralleled and two current sources can be connected in series, however it is mathematically impossible to determine which one of the voltage sources powers the circuit (except for the case there is no power (current) drain from the two voltage sources) or to exactly determine the voltage drop across each current sources (except for the case the circuit does not drain power so all voltages are zero).

Re: Voltage sources in Parallel and current sources in serie
If the 2 volt or curr sources are ideal then if they connected in parallel they would ve same value..
if tey are practical sources then we should consider their internal source resistances...which will deside the terminal voltages and currents...
Re: Voltage sources in Parallel and current sources in serie
If the voltage soures are the same, it doesn't matter because there will be on current across it, but if they are different in value, there will have current in the circuit. The bigger source voltage is supplier and lower voltage will act as load.
there is no meaning of connecting two voltage sources in parallel..and current sources in parallel has meaning because total some is sum of the currents..

That is for ideal sources, but what about real... There is point, to do something with their resistances, what ever you want in theory... But in eny case it is no good to do that... Example, if you connect two rechargeable bateries parallely, one of them would recharge, but the other on would discharge, as long as their voltages are difrent...
Re: Voltage sources in Parallel and current sources in serie
No! if two voltage sources are connected in parallel then there terminal voltage should be same if it is not same then (V2-V1)/r=undefined bcz r=0 which is the interanl resistance of the battery so battery will damage
Re: Voltage sources in Parallel and current sources in serie
Hi, Some powersupplies are able to be connected in parallel but batteries are not and powersupplies can but you have to check the manual for this. Series is never a problem.
