voltage provider circuit....

Hi,

I am not able to understand this circuit which is a part of pickit 2 programmer for voltage supply for programming... please help to understand this circuit diagram 1....

I am also attaching the full circuit diagram as PDF....


please help....

It pumps up the supply voltage to 13V or so which can be needed for MCLR on occasions. It relies on the PIC controlling the switching and monitoring the pumped voltage through Vpp_fb

Dear friend;
It is known as boost converter in literature. VPP_pump port is applying a square wave to cct (with a defined duty cycle), using coil as a energy storage element. Hence you can obtain higher voltage than the input voltage. You can search net for details.

Also the feed back is taken through the VPP-FA0,based on which PWM duty ratio at VPP_PUMP is going to set.
