Hi,
I am going to select some school to apply for my postgraduate study. Since I am interested in VLSI especially the system or something like the architecture of SOC, I wanna find some schools which are good at it. So could you guys recommend some school (US or Europe, all fine) like this? They don't need to be a top20 rank in EE or CE, but they are indeed of reputation on VLSI System.
What I have found is most shools have some programs/majors like VLSI/Computer Architecture, so can we just equate architecture with system who I make the choice between so many schools?
Thanks in advance

copied from Elementary Electronic Questions board.
They have a pretty good Comp. arch and VLSI group in UT Austin. Then there is ofcourse Berkeley, Cornell. UTD has a good VLSI group. You might want to check that.
education in Europe is almost free...you just have to pay for your rent, food and transportation there and of course you'll do that only in the first months that are without an internship...but as soon as you get one...you'll be paid...so you don't have to worry
anyway, which state do you want exactly???
there are good programs in University of Louisiana at LaFayette...hope that's not near where Katrina hit

also in Maryland...Maryland College Park...

and in Colorado...University of Colorado at Boulder
I don't prefer a specific state too much. Maybe states which have prosperous ic industry are better, because there would be more chances. Of course if the professional level of the shcool is very good indeed, I won't care the location. After two years' work experience, I just want to dive into the depth to learn as much as I could, and I like to put the learned knowledge into practice. In my heart, I would always like to consider myself an engineer which has great distinctions from some pure paper-machines.
I guess it's best to see the universities which will accept your scores first...each university has certain criteria for joining it...concerning GPA and TOEFL and GRE...etc.
