viterbi soft decoding

hi

i'm confused alitle bit about it:
can somebody explain me the scheme from the channel to the viterbi soft decoding
in transmitter i have a convolution encoding, QPSK modulation, square root rise-cosine filter... and AWGN channel
 

the only difference between soft and hard decodin is that you must use euclidean distance instead hamming distance.
