UWB Antenna Design for dongle

I am designing a slotted UWB patch antenna for Dongle Application.
my question is that:
Are there any formulas to find the length and width of slots that we make in patch,or the lengths and widths obtained by trail and error method? (My design has got 3 slots and 2 notches)
 

As far as I know, there are no closed form equations for those slotted/notched dongle antennas.

It is just trial and error, starting from a previous design. There are however, a few rule of thumb estimates you can make when modifying the design.

First choose a design for the dongle, then we can go about making changes to it.
