Using ULN2003 to drive a bipolar stepper motor

hi, i am working on a project of metal detector(continuous wave), and i want to know whether i can connect the sensor coil with a ULN2003 as it is also an inductive load. i want to connect a square waveform with 50 % duty cycle from a 555 timer to the input of ULN2003 and take load current upto 2A. any suggestion? pls reply soon

why dont u use just l297+l298 combination with a pic for precision control?
its datasheet has the info u like
