hello!
m using a pic 18f4520 to make a 3 digit 7 segment display.
one of the dispaly is being driven by 6 lines of port A and i plan to use one line of Port E. is this a decent idea?
what wil be the source code? please help asap. thank u

You can use SPI, I2C, UART, 1-wire,.... for this.

thank u tpeter
but according to my project. i cant use any other component. please tell me
IF I CAN DRIVE A 7 SEGMeNTS DISPLAY WITH TWO DIFFERENT PORTS?

On one bus you can use multiple displays.

But if you wish you can use separate protocol port pins, why not. Number of these protocol pins are limited on microcontroller.

Best regards,
Peter

hi,
Yes u can use different ports for driving 7 segment display. Then it will depend on ur software how u want to drive the display how many fnd's are there and what is the current requirment of fnd's. larger fnd recquires large current.

thank u tpeter

On illustrations from my post #2, there is no additional parts. Maybe you think on IC on 7-seg board.

Master is microcontroller.

Best regards,
Peter

thank u every1 for the help
i am driving the display using 6 bus of port A (pins 2 to pins 7 of pic18f4250) and one bus of port E (pin 8).
what are the changes in the source code?

dear tpeter
