using abs function in vhdl

Hi

I used abs function for signed vector but i just wanted to know that whether i can calculate the absolute(abs) value of unsigned vector to get the highest possible value.

Consider what we know about these type castings
signed is range -10 to 10
unsigned is range 0 to 20

What do you understand of twos complement?
