can any one tell me the use of analog to digital converter in vehicle tracker?

if you scroll down to section B. Optional Features of the above link you can see mentioned Customizable ADC (Analog to Digital converter) value, what's the use of it in vehicle tracker, is it for consumer use to get the digital values? if yes then why would there is a need for consumer to use it? i may sound silly but i feel it confusing.
