USB universal programmer

I don't think any programmer can make the statement that it will support every microcontroller. Yes it might support a lot of them, but that is a different statement.

Hi,

Is there really a point in having a 'Universal' programmer?

Any universal programmer has to be supported by its manufacturere, or its designer. You will always be at his mercy to ensure support of the latest chips being released. Next, it is unlikely to be as effecient as a dedicated programmer.

With a dedicated manufacturer-endorsed programmer (or its homemade clone) you're assured of perpetual device support. Also, the cost of individual programmers put together would still likely be less than that of a universal.

So again, is there a point, really?

Anand Dhuru

@ Enlightment > i %100 agree with you. Many will say, we support this many devices, that many devices, etc.... And some of them for sure spends years to achieve claimed numbers, but there is no way to support all microcontrollers. If you are planning to buy one, you should seek the most value upon your requirements...
