usb port power supply

Hi im thinking of making a project this might be implemented already but im thinking of making it a bit complicated,

im planning of making a power supply or battery charger maybe, with the pc usb port as my power source, and making some sort of controlling or monitoring software for it, like cutting the supply current if the monitored battery is already full, something with that function, is this possible

- bydwy im just a newbie ^^

usb power supply ports

How much power do you need? USB is quite limited. I think the maximum is 0.5A on 5V = 2.5Watt.

usb port +supply

usb can handle upto 500mA current. You should know about this limit before ysind it as power supply. If you circuit draws excess current it may damage your broad permanently

power supply with usb ports

Ya for low power consumption device,,, u may go with the project
